Platform4 is ending the season with a big bang award show; THE PLATFORM4 AWARD 2011, where over 30 creative projects from all over Jutland is competing for the first prize of 10,000 kroner in an alternative Oscar-style galla show. The show takes place in Platform4's big hall on Saturday October 29, which will be fully decorated for the show with red carpet, big screen, hot music performances and an international class panel of judges. The competing projects include ao. underground computer games, installations-design, digital architecture, art pieces/installations, animation film/concepts and mobile applications.
With PLATFORM4 AWARD 2011 we want to create an annual display platform for project makers within teknologi and creativity. The award show which takes place for the first time this year, gives entrepreneurs, students, artists, designers and other creative producers the opportunity to exhibit their projects and participate in the competition to win 10,000 kroners and get their projects exposed to the press and a big audience.
More than 30 projects have entered the competition that will led by by an invited expert panel consisting of Danish key persons within digital installation art, event making, entrepreneurship and interactive media. PLATFORM4 AWARDS 2011 starts with an exhibition in the afternoon, where the panel will make their considerations about who should win and the audience can see all the projects. In the evening the doors are opened for the big galla show where a big audience will witness a live Oscar-style award show with prizes given out and musical performances by ao. Reptile & Retard, Band Ane and Tone. The host of the evening will be Ulver Skuli Abildgaard, the famed actor known ao. for his roles in tv-successes such as 'Bryggeren' and the film 'Nordkraf'.
An award show made by creatives
The man behind the idea for the show is Morten Jensen, who works as a teacher of graphic design at University College in Aalborg. Morten also devotes a lot of his leisure time to develop projects in Platform4, and got an idea back in the spring of 2011 to create an annual award show to give attention to the many technology entrepreneurs in Aalborg and the rest of the country.
"There are so many interesting projects being made that only reach the awareness of a very limited audience, and I really believe that we need an open platform to offer a showcase for these projects and the people behind them," Morten says, and with this first installment of PLATFOR4 AWARDS he is now putting action behind his words in collaboration with Platform4's administration team and the large volunteer community.
Kristian Ravn-Ellestad, who is one of the two directors of Platform4, has worked closely together with Morten to develop and realize the PLATFORM4 AWARD 2011 event. He says: "The idea with Platform4 in general is to create a platform for anyone to use, regardless if they call themselves entrepreneur, artist, event maker, student, nerd, inventor, designer, adventurer or something completely different. If you have an idea to create something and present it to the world, then Platform4 is your support, funder and tool. With PLATFORM4 AWARDS we now have the annual event that can lift such projects to a much higher level of awareness - and we look very much forward to showing the world the first round of projects."

People's Choice Award
Additional to the PLATFORM4 AWARD the audience also has a chance to give credit to their favorite project by voting in the People Choice Award poll, which will also take place and be rewarded to one of the projects during the show. To highlight that this prize is given by the people, the prize consists of donations by the audience during the night.
